Sun Peaks receives $1.5 million in federal funding to accelerate housing development
SUN PEAKS, B.C. — The Mountain Resort Municipality of Sun Peaks received $1.5 million in federal funding toward developing affordable and market housing.
In a news release issued Friday (Aug. 2), Sun Peaks say the funding through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) Housing Accelerator Fund is meant to incentivize and support initiatives that accelerate the development of housing.
“Employee housing is a major challenge in our community and with this funding support, we will be able to move forward with our affordable housing strategy,” Sun Peaks Mayor Al Raine states.
The municipality says it’s working with CMHC on a plan that includes various initiatives to incentivize housing development and improve and quicken up development processes.
