Residents at Lillooet long-term care home being temporarily located due to Chilcotin River landslide
LILLOOET, B.C. — Residents from Mountain View Lodge are being temporarily relocated due to the landslide into the Chilcotin River.
As a precautionary measure, Interior Health states 21 residents from the long-term care home in Lillooet and three patients from Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre are being moved away from potentially affected areas downstream.
In a news release issued late Thursday (Aug. 1), Interior Health says it’s to plan an orderly relocation of its most vulnerable clients who require extra time and support during transportation.
The health authority plans to contact residents’ family members directly with more information as the evacuation planning moves forward. Anyone who wishes to confirm their loved one’s current location is asked to call 1-833-469-9800, Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
