TNRD partially expands evacuation alert and order area related to Shetland Creek wildfire

SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. ā€” The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) expanded its evacuation alert and issued an evacuation order for three properties related to the Shetland Creek wildfire.

In a news release issued Sunday (July 28) afternoon, the TNRD says all addressed properties in the Murray Creek drainage and along Colvin Road west of the Trans Canada Highway are on evacuation order. In total, 97 properties in Electoral Area ā€œIā€ (Blue Sky Country) are on evacuation order.

Residents who are forced to evacuate are asked to contact Cache Creek Emergency Support Service (ESS) at 250-457-3081.

Meantime, one new property at 5700 Laluwissin Creek Forest Service Road (Ruddocks Ranch/Onion Lake) and all properties to the east of Laluwissin Creek Forest Service Road, including all cabins on Turnip Lake, are on evacuation alert. In total, residents in 152 properties must be ready to leave on short notice.

In its update at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, the BC Wildfire Service listed the Shetland Creek wildfire at 23,758 hectares.
