The Kamloops RiverDogs will not play for the Canadian title.
The Mid-Island Pirates blanked Kamloops 4-0 in the deciding game of a best-of-three series on Saturday (July 27) in Nanaimo to secure a spot at the 18-and-under Baseball Canada Championship, which will run from Aug. 15 to Aug. 18 in St. John’s, Nfld.
Mid-Island won the series opener 12-2 on Friday. Kamloops tied the series at 1-1 with a 5-1 victory on Saturday morning.
The Pirates won the BC Premier Baseball League and the RiverDogs claimed the B.C. Baseball College Prep Division crown to advance to the de facto provincial final.
