KAMLOOPS — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Nicola, Shuswap and South Thompson regions Thursday (July 25).
Environment Canada states conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.
“There is a heightened risk of debris flow over areas impacted by burn scars,” Environment Canada states. “Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
The weather agency warns lightning kills and injuries Canadians every year. Residents are asked to go indoors once they hear thunder.
