Wheeler Mountain wildfire in Lac Du Bois Grasslands being held

KAMLOOPS — A wildfire burning in the Lac Du Bois Grasslands is being held.
In an update Tuesday (July 23) evening, the BC Wildfire Service says the Wheeler Mountain wildfire is projected to remain within its current perimeter of 1.5 hectares.
The wildfire eight kilometres northwest of Kamloops was highly visible from the city when it was discovered on Tuesday. Its suspected cause is still under investigation.
North and west of the Lac Du Bois Grasslands, five active wildfires remain out of control. Those include the 12-hectare Upper Tranquille Creek wildfire that’s suspected to be caused by lightning, the 4.4-hectare Blue Road FSR wildfire that’s suspected cause is still under investigation and three spot fires.
