Thompson-Okanagan population grows but region loses residents to other provinces: report
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Okanagan region’s population grew year-over-year.
According to BC Check-Up: Live – an annual report by the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia – the Thompson-Okanagan’s population grew to 657,450 on July 1, 2023, up 13,299 from one year earlier.
The CPABC says 10,429 new residents from arrived from other countries and 6,170 British Columbians moved to the Thompson-Okanagan from other parts of the province.
On the other hand, the Thompson-Okanagan saw a net loss of 503 residents when it comes to Canadians moving to the region from other provinces versus those moving to other provinces. The report says it’s the first time the region lost residents to other provinces in 21 years.
