Interior Health relocating residents at long-term senior care home in Williams Lake due to nearby wildfire
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Interior Health is relocating 21 residents from Cariboo Place long-term care home in Williams Lake.
In a news release issued Monday (July 22), the health authority says the move is being done as a precautionary measure due to nearby 40-hectare River Valley wildfire.
“Staff from Cariboo Place have been contacting families directly and providing updates on the location of their loved ones. For any families looking for further information on their loved ones, they may call 778-417-0275 or 780-399-6570,” Interior Health states.
Meanwhile, Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake is not currently impacted by the wildfire. Interior Health states it’s also working with all community patients to make plans for them to have access to the services they need should they need to evacuate.
