SICAMOUS, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is continuing to use aircraft to monitor the 220-hectare Mara Mountain wildfire (K41070) and does not believe there is any threat to the surrounding communities, according to a Columbia Shuswap Regional District media release on Monday evening (July 22).

Smoke and fire activity will continue to be highly visible in the Sicamous area, according to the release, which notes wildfire smoke is expected to increase across the Shuswap during the next 24 to 48 hours.

There are reports of new fires starting on Crowfoot Mountain in Electoral Area ‘F’ and in the area of Larch Hills and the BCWS is aware of the blazes, notes the release.
