No overnight growth to wildfire burning northwest of Kamloops: BC Wildfire Service

KAMLOOPS — BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) fire information officer Aydan Coray said the Alexander Lake blaze burning about 32 kilometres northwest of Kamloops has not grown since Friday (July 19) evening.

“Because it is higher elevation, they have been seeing better overnight recoveries and relative humidity the last few nights, which has been helpful,” Coray said of the 33-hectare wildfire burning in Porcupine Meadows Provincial Park.

“Relatively quiet fire behaviour overnight.”

Coray said 10 BCWS personnel are fighting the blaze on Saturday, with help from one helicopter and danger-tree fallers.
