Lower Blueberry Creek fire near Seymour Arm under control: CSRD

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District is reporting good news on wildfires near Seymour Arm and Sicamous on Saturday (July 20) morning.

The .8-hectare Lower Blueberry Creek fire burning just west of Seymour Arm above Dasnier’s Bay has been declared under control by the BC Wildfire Service and there was no substantial overnight growth on Friday to the Mara Mountain fire, which is mapped at 19.2 hectares as of Saturday morning.

The McNomee Creek blaze burning about four kilometres northwest of Seymour Arm is mapped at .8 hectares and listed as out of control.

Nine smokejumpers (parachuting firefighters) and a heavy-bucket helicopter are in use on the McNomee Creek blaze.
