Permanent ski and snowboard cross course at Sun Peaks expected to be ready for the winter
SUN PEAKS, B.C. — A new, permanent ski and snowboard cross course on Sundance Mountain at Sun Peaks Resort will be ready for the winter.
In a news release issued Wednesday (July 17) morning, Sun Peaks Resort says construction on the course started on Monday and is expected to be complete in two to three weeks.
The resort says the $100,000 Powder Ventures Ski and Snowboard Cross Course will be one of few cross courses in Canada built of dirt.
“A permanent course will significantly reduce our reliance on early season snow, snowmaking resources, and snow cat operating time, and allow us to open the course earlier in the season,” Aaron Macdonald, Sun Peaks Resort chief marketing and communications officer, says. “Finding a local company to partner with was the best case scenario and we’re proud to be working with Jason White and his team at Powder Ventures Excavations on this exciting project for the resort.”
