PORT ANGELES, WASH. — Inability to finish plagued the Kamloops NorthPaws in a West Coast League baseball series against the hometown Port Angeles Lefties.

They blew leads in the ninth inning in back-to-back games to turn a potential sweep into a one-win weekend.

Kamloops scored three runs in the top of the ninth and allowed four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on Friday (July 12) to hold on for an 8-7 victory.

The Lefties tallied three runs in the bottom of the ninth to win 9-8 on Saturday (July 13) and six runs in the bottom of the ninth to steal a 6-5 victory on Sunday (July 14).

The WCL season consists of two halves featuring 27-games apiece.

Eight teams — four each from the North Division and South Division — will qualify for the post-season, including the winners of the first and second halves of the season and the two teams from each division with the best overall records that did not win either of the halves (or otherwise qualify).

Kamloops is 4-5 in second-half standings and tied for last place in the North Division after compiling a record of 7-19 in the first half.

The Kelowna Falcons will play host to Kamloops on Tuesday (July 16).
