KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson has called a news conference for Monday morning (July 15) where he is expected to address his political future.

Hamer-Jackson says the topic of the news conference will be “resignation/consideration”.

In the past months, Hamer-Jackson has been increasingly isolated by the other eight members of Kamloops council.

After a damning report from municipal adviser Henry Braun, council’s Committee of the Whole voted to request Hamer-Jackson’s resignation.

When he refused to resign, council docked his pay by 10 per cent for violations of council’s Code of Conduct and removed him as official representative and spokesperson for council and the City of Kamloops.

The mayor has also been barred from attending closed committee meetings.

Hamer-Jackson’s news conference is set for the scenic lookout on Columbia Street West, Monday at 10:00 a.m.
