Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake to see second overnight ER closure this week

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — For a second time this week, the emergency room at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake will be closed overnight.

Interior Health says emergency services will be temporarily unavailable as of 5:30 p.m. Friday (July 5) until 7:30 a.m. on Saturday (July 6). However, inpatient services at Cariboo Memorial will continue.

In the meantime, the health authority says patients can access care at hospital in 100 Mile House, Quesnel or Bella Coola.

People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care should still call 9-1-1.

The service interruption in Williams Lake comes after IH had announced a pair of temporary overnight closures at the emergency departments in Merritt and Williams Lake earlier this week.
