LILLOOET, B.C. — An out-of-control wildfire burning alongside Highway 99 from Cache Creek to Lillooet is now measured at an estimated 151 hectares in size, up from 60 hectares the day prior.

In an update Tuesday (June 25), the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says while the Tiffin Creek wildfire nearly 15 kilometres north of Lillooet showed minimal growth Tuesday, the larger size reflects more accurate tracking.

“Crews are making good progress with handguard and hose lay on the south flank and progress is being made on the east flank,” BCWS states. “The northeast corner of the fire continues to display rank 2 fire behaviour and is being actioned with a crew and air resources. Currently no structures are being threatened.”

The Tiffin Creek wildfire is burning on a steep slope and the BCWS has multiple crews, four helicopters and four pieces of heavy equipment responding to it.
