NorthPaws lose 13th straight after sweep to Riverhawks
KAMLOOPS — The 2024 West Coast League (WCL) season continues to go south for the Kamloops NorthPaws.
The NorthPaws were swept by the Edmonton Riverhawks in a three-game series at home over the weekend, extending their losing streak to 13 games.
After dropping the series opener on Friday (June 21) 4-2, the NorthPaws were in position to break the mammoth losing streak on Saturday by taking a 5-1 lead into the eighth inning. However, a three-run inning in the eighth – a two RBI single and a hit by pitch – would make it a 5-4 game in the top of the ninth.
The NorthPaws were out of available pitchers and went to catcher Jerry Nix for the save. However, with two outs, the NorthPaws surrendered a game-tying RBI double. The Riverhawks scored the game winning run in the 10th inning via a pass ball.
