Multiple Kamloops housing projects to be unveiled during news conference at Columbia Precinct Lands
KAMLOOPS — The B.C. government is expected to announce multiple housing projects coming to Kamloops Monday (June 24) morning.
B.C. Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon and Kamloops Deputy Mayor Katie Neustaeter are slated to make the announcement at 515 Columbia St. in downtown Kamloops Monday at 11:00 a.m.
The property at 515 Columbia St. is one of two aging, vacant buildings near the corner of Sixth Avenue and Columbia Street owned by the B.C. government – known as the Columbia Precinct Lands – that has been earmarked for redevelopment. The Columbia Precinct property is owned by the provincial Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure but has not been used to its capacity in many years.
In an email to CFJC Today in May, BC Housing identified 527 Columbia St. as the second provincially owned property on the downtown corner that’s being planned to be demolished for future development.
