1962 – June 10, 2024
Marlon Lyle Dosch went on his final adventure on June 10, 2024 as cancer took his life.
Marlon was born in 1962 as the first of 4 children to Richard and Megan. He was curious by nature and was always seeking a new mountain to climb, sports field to conquer, or place to visit.
If you wonder where you met him it really could have been anywhere. He cast a wide net of friends and family who adored his goofy jokes, strength in his kindness, ability to eat anything and lose weight, and belief that a good time was more important than a victory. Marlon was the Mayor of Logan Lake, a master of disc golf, a hiker, a biker, and a lover of camping and reading. He played hockey, slo-pitch and dabbled in golfing.
He raised three girls Amanda (Graham), Laura and Sarah (Ryan) and helped with his step children Mary Hope and Krytale. Being a girl dad did not stop him from teaching them about Christmas tree hunting in deep snow, multiple attempts at fishing, or how to build a campfire in the rain. Marlon’s grandsons added some masculine energy to the mix.
When he met Kate he had found his partner in travel, in adventure, and in life. If there was a day off without a plan it would have been highly unusual. It was off to the Philippines, Europe, Asia, Mexico, Germany, Panama, Belgium, Costa Rica, Columbia, most of the USA and Canada. There was tenting on high mountains, navigating caves, boarding cruise ships and doing weekend drives to nowhere in particular.
Marlon worked for 42 years with the Ministry of Forests. His co-workers were subjected to his quick wit, love of ongoing practical jokes, and a sense of humour that even Marlon himself found hilarious.
Despite his illness he remained gracious, kind and fun loving to others.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 at 1:30pm.
All that shared in Marlon’s adventures are welcomed.
