KAMLOOPS — The latest in Kamloops council’s efforts to curb the powers of Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson ban him from attending certain committee proceedings.
The move comes out of a closed council meeting on May 28 and was enacted in light of municipal adviser Henry Braun’s report, which in part criticized Hamer-Jackson’s handling of confidential information.
Council’s direction bans Hamer-Jackson from attending the closed portion of select committee meetings unless by invitation.
The banishment stays in place for one year, or until the mayor completes an educational course on his responsibilities to protect privileged information.
