Pedestrian dies after being struck by a train in Valleyview

UPDATE (8:30 a.m.): KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP confirm one person is dead after a train collision in Valleyview Thursday morning.

In a news release issued Thursday morning, Kamloops RCMP say officers attended the tracks near Kelly Douglas Road and Vicars Road after being notified by Canadian Pacific Railway. The person was found dead nearby.

“It’s very early in the investigation, which will be conducted concurrently with the BC Coroners Service and the Canadian Pacific Railway Police,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “The collision occurred in an area near a tire plant, across the highway from a motel.

Anyone with information or video that may help determine what transpired before the person was struck is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

EARLIER: Kamloops RCMP are investigating after a person was struck by a train in Valleyview Thursday (June 13) morning.

Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident happened in the area of Kelly Douglas Road and Vicars Road at around 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
