Emergency department in Williams Lake temporarily closes for third time in 2024

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The emergency department at the largest hospital in the Cariboo was temporarily closed for the third time in 2024 overnight.
In a news release Monday (May 27) night, Interior Health says the emergency room at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake was closed from 11:30 p.m. Monday to 6:00 a.m. Tuesday due to limited nursing availability.
Patients in Williams Lake and area in need of emergency medical care were advised to visit either 100 Mile District General Hospital in 100 Mile House or GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel during the closure.
In 2024, the emergency room at Cariboo Memorial Hospital temporarily closed in February and April.
