KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man is facing a long list of weapons charges after a suspicious vehicle led Mounties to a significant bust this week.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers patrolling on Kokanee Way early Thursday morning (May 9) came across a vehicle parked that was missing its front license plate and parked in a suspicious manner.

Further investigation revealed the car to be stolen.

“As part of the investigation, officers located weapons including a restricted firearm, ammunition, bear spray, and a switchblade knife,” said Evelyn. “A man and a woman were taken into custody and held for court — the woman for an unendorsed arrest warrant; the man for the new offences.”

Cameron Jewett, 21, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of property knowing it was obtained by crime
  • Possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a concealed weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a concealed weapon, prohibited device or ammunition without a license (x2)
  • Possession of a restricted firearm without a license or registration
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without a license of registration

Jewett was subsequently denied bail. His next court appearance is set for May 14.
