Kamloops to conduct Voyent Alert! test Friday
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says it will conduct a test of the Voyent Alert! emergency notification system on Friday, May 10.
“Depending on what type of messaging each individual has registered for, the test alert will go out by SMS text, phone call, email and notification through the app,” reads a press release from the city. “In the event of an evacuation alert or order is put in place due to flood or wildfire, this system will be a vital way of alerting and updating the public. If used, the notification will include important information about the event and instructions for if any action is required.”
The Voyent Alert! application can be downloaded from the the iPhone App Store and GooglePlay for Android.
The Voyent app is utilized by several local communities to relay emergency information, including the Thompson Nicola Regional District.
