Meikle of Kamloops gets call to B.C. Lions’ mini-camp

KAMLOOPS — Colton Meikle of the Kamloops Broncos has been invited to B.C. Lions’ mini-camp, which gets underway on May 8 at Hillside Stadium.

Meikle, a receiver from Kamloops, was invited to main camp after performing well at a recent evaluation camp in Langley.

The CFL club assessed top players from the B.C. Football Conference.

Meikle said he is the only BCFC player to be invited to mini-camp, news he received on April 28 — his 19th birthday.

“It was a pretty good birthday present, that’s for sure,” Meikle said.

The Westsyde secondary graduate is aiming to stick around for Lions’ main camp, which kicks off on May 12 at Hillside Stadium.

“I’m just going to work as hard as I can to make it all the way through,” Meikle said, noting he plans to learn the playbook, watch film and soak up knowledge from Lions’ veterans and coaches.

Meikle is expected to play for the Broncos this season, but plans to make a run at the Lions’ roster in 2025.
