TNRD aiming to avoid website crashes with new Emergency Operations Centre page

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has added an Emergency Operations Centre page to its website.

Real-time information will be offered during emergencies such as floods and wildfires, according to TNRD CAO Scott Hildebrand.

Hildebrand said the page was created with an emphasis on having capacity to handle high traffic volume.

Several TNRD website crashes last summer sparked the idea for the new page, which is incomplete but online now.

“I feel like we’re doing a lot of work on preparedness right now with EOC and getting things ready much earlier than we have in the past,” Hildebrand said.

The website will link to other emergency services sites across the province to help keep residents updated on alerts and evacuation orders.
