Braeden Connor Coulombe Mahar

Posted Mar 28, 2024 | 11:07 AM

April 11, 1999 – March 9, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Braeden Connor Coulombe Mahar, born on April 11, 1999, announces his passing on March 9, 2024, at the age of 24 years.

Braeden leaves behind his mom and dad, Debbie Coulombe and Duane Mahar; his older sister, Whitney Mahar (Brendan Day); his grandma and papa, Evelyn and Gene Coulombe; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Braeden was a very kind, caring, and loving individual. With his goofy personality, he loved to make others laugh. He adored animals, especially his cats, and volunteered in recent years with the local rescue, Sammy’s Forgotten Felines. Braeden was also very gifted, found learning easy, and had the ability to look at things in a logical manner.

Braeden was born and raised in Kamloops, B.C., attending Dallas Elementary School and Valleyview Secondary School. After high school, Braeden decided to further pursue education in the medical field and enrolled in Thompson Rivers University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biology. In September 2022, Braeden decided to enroll in the nursing program at TRU. We know Braeden would have been a great nurse as he really cared about people and would have taken the time needed to look after them.

Braeden’s other accomplishments include obtaining a first-degree black belt after training for five years in Tae Kwon Do. He was also a very gifted baker, making difficult recipes from scratch. He would make incredible cakes, cookies, macaroons, and never shied away from a challenge. When he wasn’t baking, Braeden would often be gaming with his friends or spending time with his family.

From a young age, Braeden expressed an interest in Japanese culture. He began studying the Japanese language in high school, continuing in university. He enjoyed anime, particularly “One Piece,” and had an extensive collection of anime statues. He began working at the age of 16 at Safeway, partially to subsidize the cost of his collections. Braeden also loved Japanese food and was happy to travel to Japan on two different occasions.

Braeden was taken from us far too soon and will be missed terribly by his family and friends, but we will take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and watching us from above.

The family would like to share… try to take the time to say hi, offer a smile, and basically just be kind to others. Words can hurt, and no one ever really knows what someone else is living with.

A celebration of life is being held for Braeden at Schoening’s Funeral Home on April 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

If you wish to make a donation in memory of Braeden, please do so to Sammy’s Forgotten Felines or to the Kamloops SPCA.

You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Mahar family.
