Katzberg, Armstrong win Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards

VANCOUVER — Kamloops Track and Field Club hammer thrower Ethan Katzberg and his coach, Dylan Armstrong, are among recipients of Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards, which were handed out last week in Vancouver.

Katzberg, who threw 81.25 metres to top his own Canadian record and win gold in hammer throw at the World Athletics Championships last summer in Budapest, was named senior male athlete of the year.

Olympic bronze medallist shot putter Armstrong was named male coach of the year.

The awards recognize the province’s best in amateur sport in 2023, including athletes, coaches, teams and officials.

Each finalist was nominated by their provincial or multi-sport organization, high school, college or university.
