Vehicle incident reduces traffic flow on Coquihalla Highway between Kamloops and Merritt

UPDATE (9:00 a.m.): Images captured by CFJC Today show two semi-trucks collided on the stretch of Highway.

Vehicle recovery remains in progress. Another update from DriveBC is due at 10:30 a.m.

UPDATE (7:30 a.m.): DriveBC says vehicle recovery on the Coquihalla Highway between Sussex Lake Road and Helmer Road has the left lane closed for southbound traffic.

Drivers are still told to expect delays.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — Traffic is reduced to single-lane alternating on the Coquihalla Highway near Sussex Lake between Kamloops and Merritt Wednesday (March 6) morning.

DriveBC first reported of the vehicle incident on the stretch of Highway 5 between Sussex Lake Road and Helmer Road at around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday. In an update at around 6:40 a.m., DriveBC says crews are en route, and an assessment is in progress.

Drivers are told to expect major delays and drive with caution.

Another update is due at 8:30 a.m.
