KAMLOOPS — Patrols initiated by the local RCMP detachment in response to a series of business break-ins in downtown Kamloops have borne fruit.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says just before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday (March 2), an officer on the beat downtown was alerted to a break-in attempt in progress at a business in the 100-block of Victoria Street.

The Mountie tracked the suspect to an underground parkade on Lansdowne Street, arresting him for break-and-enter and mischief.

“The proactive patrols were in direct response to the recent increased break and enter reports received in the area, and not only led to an arrest, but also to the prevention of a business break-in,” said Evelyn in a news release.
