TRU Day of Giving campaign raises $81,000 for student supports

KAMLOOPS — The public gave Thompson Rivers University (TRU) nearly double its goal for its seventh annual Day of Giving.

Numbers released by TRU Tuesday (March 5) show 223 donors – including alumni, individual supporters and organizations – raised $81,591.50 over two days for students at the Kamloops and Williams Lake campuses. TRU’s goal was to raise $48,000 over 48 hours on Feb. 29 and March 1.

This year, TRU says donors gave generously to student scholarships, awards and bursaries, and the Health Care Equipment Fund, which was created to continue funding health care kits. Day of Giving 2023 raised money to provide lab kits to nursing and respiratory technology students.

Residents can continue to donate for student supports online.
