Vehicle fire impacts Highway 5A traffic overnight

KAMLOOPS — A vehicle fire impacted traffic on Highway 5A south of Kamloops overnight.
DriveBC first reported of the incident between Beresford Road and Jackson Road — about four to seven kilometres south of Kamloops — at around 8 p.m. Sunday (March 3). The stretch of Highway 5A was closed for nearly three hours before partially opening to single-lane-alternating traffic at around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Another update is due this morning. Meantime, drivers who need to travel between Kamloops and Merritt can still do so via the Coquihalla Highway.
