Salmon Arm RCMP see through mom’s fib, track down ‘N’ driver who fled crash scene
SALMON ARM, B.C. — A 22-year-old ‘N’ driver received numerous tickets after crashing his Jeep and backing up highway traffic in Salmon Arm.
In a news release issued Wednesday (Feb. 7) morning, Salmon Arm RCMP say a man reported a blue Jeep Compass struck his semi-truck on Highway 1 and Shuswap Street at around 10:00 p.m. on Jan. 31.
Police say officers found the Jeep still on scene with major front-end damage and blocking the right-side westbound lane.
Police obtained surveillance video from a nearby business that showed the semi was traveling westbound with a green light on Highway 1 while the Jeep was travelling southbound on Shuswap Street, ran a red light and hit the semi. The Jeep’s occupants then ran away.
