Upper Nicola band holding special election

UPPER NICOLA, B.C. — The Upper Nicola Indian Band, south of Kamloops, is holding a special election to fill three vacancies on council.

The Upper Nicola Band Tribunal Committee has appointed OneFeather to act as the Electoral Officer for the vote.

Daniel Manuel serves as chief of the band. Fred Holmes, Dennis MacDonald, Brian Holmes, Craig Shintah, Kevin Ned and Ira Tom remain on council and will be joined by the three newly-elected members.

The three members no longer listed on the website are Kayla Boston, Eva Tom and Jeremy Tom.

The election will be held on April 6, 2024 with advanced polling on March 30. A nomination meeting is scheduled for February 29.
