Human remains found near Red Bridge: Kamloops RCMP
KAMLOOPS — Human remains have been found at the scene of a fire near the Red Bridge in Kamloops.
In a news release issued Wednesday (Jan. 24) morning, Kamloops RCMP say Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) extinguished a fire at what was believed to be a transient camp on the bank of the South Thompson River on Saturday (Jan. 20) at around 10:00 p.m.
Three days later, police say a worker attended the scene at around 1:40 p.m. for clean-up and found the remains with the debris. RCMP asked the public to stay away from the area near the walking path under the Red Bridge as police investigated, and since then, the BC Coroners Service arrived and confirmed the remains to be human.
