Southbound traffic on the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt halted overnight

MERRITT, B.C. — Southbound traffic on the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt is estimated to reopen at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 16).

DriveBC reported tractor trailers on Highway 5 south of Box Canyon blocking all southbound lanes just after 6 p.m. Monday. It says the police investigation is over, and crews are recovering the vehicles.

Until 7:30 a.m., drivers are asked to take an alternate route for their travels to the coast. DriveBC reminds drivers that Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge is not an alternate route.
