Heating system failure cause temperatures to drop in Royal Inland Hospital
KAMLOOPS – The waiting room of the emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital saw temperatures drop to minus six degree Celsius early Saturday (Jan. 13) morning. According to Gerry Desilets, executive director of clinical operations at Royal Inland Hospital, the issue was due to cold air coming in and problems with the front-door heater.
“While our technicians are working on bringing the heat up, we are preventing the cold air from coming inside as much as possible,” said Desilets. “A temporary divider was put up to block cold air coming into the main waiting room. This has helped bringing our temperature up.”
Desilets also stated that, since last night, temperatures have been stable at around 17 degrees in the Emergency Department and the rest of the hospital is not impacted.
