Slippery conditions reported on highways in and around Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Drivers planning to travel on highways in and around Kamloops are being asked to drive with caution due to challenging conditions.
Late Tuesday (Jan. 9) night, DriveBC reported of multiple vehicles spinning out due to slippery sections on the Coquihalla Highway south of Kamloops. Multiple vehicle incidents closed the northbound lanes of Highway 5 at Inks Lake Road for two hours, although one lane has since reopened as crews are recovering a vehicle.
Meantime, DriveBC is also reporting of slippery sections on Highway 5 North from Kamloops to Clearweater due to compact snow and slush. At 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, DriveBC said crews were responding to a vehicle incident on Highway 5 near Palmer Forsythe Road north of Kamloops.
Highway 1 through Kamloops is also reported as slippery and DriveBC says crews have been notified. Dense fog and slushy conditions have also been reported on Highway 1 from Kamloops to Cache Creek and compact snow has been reported on Highway 1 from Kamloops to Chase.
