KAMLOOPS — With Christmas officially in the rearview mirror, and the New Year quickly approaching, Kamloops RCMP want to ensure everyone’s holiday season stays merry.

And it can start with not putting on display all of the new toys you may have got from Santa this year.

“Think about what you are advertising that you got for Christmas,” said RCMP Spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn. “We like to open all our stuff and get it set up and then get the packaging in the recycling bin and ready for the curb pickup. But think of other places you can maybe store some of that wrapping, some of that packaging until it’s actually is recycling day so that somebody doesn’t have the opportunity to see what you are putting in there. You don’t want advertise all your new toys and then have somebody attempt to break-in.”

Cpl. Evelyn also addressed the importance of being a good neighbour as packages may still arrive late, and people could be heading away on vacations.
