KAMLOOPS — Following a suggestion made by then Shadow-Minister for Veteran Affairs MP Frank Caputo, Canadian veterans and active service members will now receive free admission to Park Canada sites.

“While I was the Shadow Minister for Veterans Affairs, I heard from constituents how important it would be for Veterans to have free access to National Parks. I relayed their idea to the Minister of Finance so that it could be included in the following budget. My Conservative colleagues who heard the same from their constituents also did the same,” said Caputo, MP for Kamloops Thompson Cariboo. “I was delighted to read that the Government listened to the common sense Conservative suggestion to provide Veterans, CAF members and their families free access to National Parks.”

Parks Canada looks after 171 national historic sites, 47 national parks, and five national marine conservation areas.

“Canada has some of the most beautiful national parks in the world. This initiative provides Veterans and CAF members with easier access to the physical and mental benefits of nature,” added Caputo. “I take great pride in the fact that my constituents can reach me with their ideas and concerns and that I can bring about change.”
