Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System switching to Voyent Alert! in 2024
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Residents in the Cariboo can expect changes to the way their notified of an emergency in 2024.
In a news release, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) says the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System will use Voyent Alert! to send push notifications directly to residents who are impacted by an evacuation alert or order, utility service disruption or other emergencies. The platform is used by communities such as the City of Kamloops and the Thompson Nicola Regional District.
The CRD says a test of Voyent Alert! will held in early 2024. The district adds all current subscribers of the Everbridge alert system will be transferred over starting in January.
Residents who are not signed up for the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System can still do so online.
