MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt RCMP are asking for the public’s help in finding a stolen speed sign.

In a news release, Merritt RCMP say a speed sign was stolen from the 2300-block of Coldwater Avenue in the early hours of Saturday (Dec. 2).

Police add the lock and chain that secure the speed sign were also stolen, meaning whoever stole the sign would have had to use bolt cutters or a grinder.

“The Merritt Community Police Office uses portable speed signs in strategic locations throughout the city of Merritt to encourage the public to slow down and to track speed statistics.” said Cst. Blake Chursinoff. “We are hoping to have the sign returned, so we can continue to use it to encourage drivers to slow down around schools, parks and high traffic pedestrian areas.”
