Kamloops Mounties nab an impaired semi-truck driver
KAMLOOPS — A report of a semi-truck swerving on the highway, failing to signal, and almost hitting a meridian, led to its driver losing his license for 90 days.
On Wednesday (Nov 22) just before 6 p.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Municipal Traffic Unit located the truck just off of Highway 5 at Copperhead and Versatile Drives.
As part of the investigation, police demanded the driver provide a sample of his breath, but he failed to provide an adequate one, a deemed refusal.
“Refusal of the breath demand carries the same penalty as blowing a fail, which would indicate a blood alcohol content exceeding .08,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.
