WolfPack men and women fall to Thunderbirds

VANCOUVER — It wasn’t the best night for TRU men and women’s volleyball teams. The ‘Pack visited the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver yesterday (Nov. 17) and, despite their efforts, the teams couldn’t pull out a victory.

After UBC took the first set, the WolfPack men’s came out stronger in the second set, but it wasn’t enough. Final score was 3-1.

“We had a solid road effort, played a bit up-and-down but credit to UBC, they made some great defensive stops,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly. “We need to be more stable throughout the match and not have to fight back from being down.”

Meanwhile, the women were close in all three sets, but lost 3-0.

“For the most part we were disciplined in our base defense but unfortunately we just couldn’t find ways to score the ball, I thought offensively we struggled to find edges, were tentative in good hitting situations and made errors in situations when we needed to make them play the ball,” said head coach Chad Grimm.
