KAMLOOPS — Halloween is right around the corner and people go all out when it comes to costume making. The good news is, those who haven’t found their perfect outfit still have time to figure that out.

From vampires to pirates, one specific costume seems to be the most popular among clients at Value Village this year.

“It’s been a lot of Disney princesses, Marvel superheroes. Barbie has been a hot one due to the movie that just came out. We’ve definitely been seeing a lot of Barbie and Ken costumes,” said Calee Quirion, the production manager at the local store.

Value Village is one of the many places in town where people go looking for halloween costumes. With different DIY looks, they focus on affordable and reusable outfits.

“This year, the biggest difference is we don’t have any new costumes at the store, so we’re really focusing on making sure that we’re reusing, especially Halloween, because you only use those costumes once a year,” Quirion explained. “Making sure we’re focusing on the reusable aspect of it, we are also keeping things out of the landfill, because we’re able to reuse these Halloween costumes.”

Over the last five years, all of Value Village in North America have diverted 5.2 billion pounds of waste out of the landfill.
