Kamloops council calls out to the province for help with internal dysfunction
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops council is calling for help from the province as it navigates a major rift around the council horseshoe.
At Tuesday’s (Sept. 26) regular meeting, council voted to ask the provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs to provide a municipal adviser.
In presenting the motion, Councillor Margot Middleton said several councillors met with Minister Anne Kang at last week’s Union of B.C. Municipalities convention in Vancouver.
“Our council specifically asked what resources may be available to assist municipalities with governance issues, particularly those that are being amplified by dysfunction and discord at the council level,” said Middleton.
