Rotary Food Drive for Kamloops Food Bank returns Saturday
KAMLOOPS — The 31st annual fall Rotary Food Drive takes place on Saturday (Sept. 23) in Kamloops and, thanks to support from Canada Post, a new paper bag was delivered to every house in the city this week.
The new recyclable and compostable paper bags replace the classic yellow plastic bags — but the mission remains the same. With need at an all-time high, the Kamloops Food Bank is hoping this weekend’s drive can help fill the empty shelves in their warehouse.
“We are hoping for an increased food drive this year, increased donations. It’s easy. Go in your pantry — we distribute what you have at home. Anything beyond human food like tuna, peanut butter and the standard soup, please put in some pet food or baby items. We serve the entire demographic,” said Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky.
