Suspect arrested, charged after dog walker assaulted in Westsyde’s Centennial Park
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man has been arrested and charged after a dog walker was assaulted near Westsyde’s Centennial Park.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident took place at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 13). Officers responded to the park for the report of one person who had been assaulted and a second who had been threatened.
“Officers quickly arrived on scene, located, and arrested a suspect nearby,” said Evelyn. “He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for [Thursday].”
Benoit Jean Charron, 40, is facing charges of assault by choking, suffocating or strangling, two counts of assault and one count of attempted theft.
