KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack men’s soccer club picked up their first victory of the 2023 season on the road Sunday afternoon (Sept. 10).

After dropping their first match of the weekend to the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Timberwolves 3-1 in Prince George on Friday, TRU gave UNBC a receipt with a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Harry Taylor and Jonathan Rinaldi scored early in the second half to give TRU a 2-0 lead while goalkeeper Svyatik Artemenko made five saves en route to the 2-1 win.

“Finally, we were able to put a full 90 minutes together both on the defensive side of the ball and offensively,” John Antulov, TRU men’s soccer head coach states. “I think it’s a big relief for the guys to put a game together and hopefully we can build on this moving forward. For us it’s just building off what we did today. I thought even Friday was a good performance, but we just made bad mistakes at bad times, and we were able to clear that up today. Overall, the weekend was pretty solid, we are starting to hopefully hit our stride and just have to build that forward going into next weekend.”
