KAMLOOPS — Kamloops has a new millionaire after a Lotto 6/49 draw on Aug. 12.

In a news release issued Friday (Sept. 8), British Columbia Lottery Corporation says Landon Tilitzky purchased his $1 million winning ticket from the Petro Canada on Sydney Avenue. Following the $1 million win, he hopes to become a homeowner.

“I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around it. I’ve always dreamed of buying a house and now that’s a reality,” Tilitzky says.

Tilitzky says he messaged his parents following his win. He says they were both in disbelief.

“I sent [my dad] a screenshot of the ticket and told him to call me. When he called me back, he kept asking if it was real and for more proof because he couldn’t believe it,” Tilitzky says. ““I texted [my mom] some housing questions and then she quickly began wondering why I was asking her those questions, so I had to tell her then. She was so happy for me.”

Tilittzky plans to treat his parents to a nice dinner to celebrate his win and will surprise the rest of his family when he visits them in the Okanagan over the weekend. He also hopes to catch a few Seattle Seahawks and Vancouver Canucks games.
